Our Mission
The Katonah Village Improvement Society (KVIS) is an organization of neighbors working together to cultivate Katonah’s unique character and community.
Who is a board member? What’s the process to become a board member? What is expected of me?
What can I do to help? How do I find out about volunteer opportunities in the community?
I want to support the work of KVIS and be a part of cultivating Katonah’s uniqueness.
Some of What We Do

The KVIS Affiliation with the Katonah Village Library
The Katonah Village Improvement Society and the Katonah Village Library share a unique history and a common focus of strengthening and enriching community life. In the late 1800s, KVIS founded the first Katonah Reading Room in a private residence. KVIS helped to fund and maintain the Katonah Free Library – later renamed the Katonah Village Library – at its current site in the center of our community. Though the Library became a separate entity in 1953, our special relationship continues to this day.
