As part of Katonah’s Centennial Celebration of its move from “Old” Katonah in 1897, KVIS published a self-guided Katonah walking tour detailing the history and buildings that surround us in present-day “New” Katonah. The tour is a fascinating walk through time and town to appreciate Katonah’s unique history, beauty, and spirit.
The tour is divided into two sections: Katonah’s residential district and Katonah’s commercial core. It is available for download in audio format (with an accompanying google map) or as a brochure.
Audio Format
The tour is downloaded in two “loops”. The Residential Walking Tour Audio starts at the Library (Bedford Road & Parkway) heading north on Bedford Road, turning around at Edgemont, and heading back down Bedford Road to Allen Place and back up to the Library. The Commercial Walking Tour Audio starts at the Library, down Parkway to Katonah Avenue, south on Katonah Avenue to St. Luke’s Church, back up Katonah Avenue to Edgemont, and back down Katonah Avenue to the Parkway and Library. The KVIS Audio Walking Tour Google Map provides loop directions.
Brochure
A copy of the walking tour brochure can be downloaded or can be picked up at the Katonah Chamber’s Information Center located at Kellogg’s & Lawrence on The Parkway. The Center is open Monday through Friday, 8 am to 6 pm, Saturdays – 8 am to 5 pm, and Sundays – 9 am to 5 pm.
