Meet & Move

If you just ran the K5K and want a way to keep yourself motivated to exercise, the Meet & Move app may be just for you!

Meet & Move is a new free app from Northwell Health that lists and links you to local physical activities that meet your interests, connecting you with exercise opportunities and neighbors to exercise with.  It’s the perfect app for those who want to get moving with others right in our community.

If you want a walking partner for your next walk or you want to check out one of the beautiful hiking trails in the area but don’t have someone to go with, Meet & Move is perfect for you. The app provides not only a chance for exercise but the opportunity to meet fellow “movers.”

Meet & Move isn’t just an app, though, it’s a public health initiative, created by the former CEO of Northern Westchester Hospital, Joel Seligman.  “Meet & Move is intended to remove some of the barriers to physical activity, such as not knowing what activities are available nearby or not having others to exercise with,” Seligman explained. “There are so many wonderful activities in our local parks, preserves, fitness centers, even libraries and senior centers that people aren’t aware of.  And most have capacity.  For example, town recreation departments often cancel activities for lack of enrollment. Getting moving with others in the community strengthens our hearts and muscles,  and also our community.”

Once you download the app and create your account, you’ll choose from a comprehensive list of physical activities (some free, some for a fee) based on your preferences. Town softball leagues? Weekly walking or biking tours? Check and check.

You’ll all be able to filter activities based on skill level (from beginner to advanced) and soon you’ll be able to create your own events — inviting other individual users or opening it up to the Meet & Move community in your area.

The past 18 months have been isolating, and it’s time to get out into the world again (with proper precaution as advised by the Center for Disease Control).

Katonah Road Races: Results

Saturday, September 18th was a perfect day for a road race! We lucked out with a crisp morning with low humidity and a field of happy runners of all ages!

Stand up for the Katonah Village Library

Katonah Village Library has been at the heart of our community for nearly 150 years. And during the pandemic, the Library has helped everyone stay informed, entertained and connected.

Now the Library needs your help.

KVIS founded KVL in 1881: These two organizations drive so much of the rich community experience of living and learning and connecting in Katonah and in our Town as a whole.  We hope that our supporters will add their voice of support to the request for sustainable Town funding of KVL.   

Please visit the Library’s new webpage, which features an FAQ section that explains how KVL is funded, how financial troubles emerged over the past decade, and how the Library is working closely with the Town appointed Task Force to help ensure the right level of annual support from the Town that will enable them to operate sustainably and continue to provide quality library services.

KVIS Scholarship Winner

KVIS awarded its annual scholarship to Sophie Eberhardt, a John Jay High School senior. Sophie won the KVIS scholarship for her community service which includes being a volunteer at the Katonah- Bedford – Bedford Hills Ambulance Corps, Middle School tutor, Team Captain of Pretty Little Fighters Relay for Life, and Co-President of Operation Smiles, to name a few. Sophie will be attending Washington University in St. Louis in the fall.
